In Calibre, locate the library folder that contains metadata.db and its author and book folders. Close Calibre, make a ZIP of that folder, then choose Import Calibre library in Binge Reader, upload the ZIP, select the destination, and review the final summary.
Prepare a consistent snapshot
Use Calibre’s library folder, not a random selection of exported EPUBs. Confirm metadata.db sits at the root of the folder you will zip. Close Calibre before copying so its database and book folders describe the same moment.
Start the managed import
Open Add books or the Calibre import action, choose the ZIP, select a Binge Reader library, and begin. Large libraries continue as an import job; watch its counts instead of refreshing or uploading the same archive again.
Review the summary
Compare imported, skipped, failed, and review-needed counts with your source. Open a series, a multi-format book, and a title with rich metadata. Ambiguous title matches should be reviewed rather than silently merged.
The details, at a glance.
| Consider | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Archive root | metadata.db plus Calibre-managed folders |
| Upload | ZIP through the Calibre importer |
| Progress | Job counts for large libraries |
| Verification | Files, metadata, formats, and duplicates |
A few things worth asking.
Should I use Calibre’s book-folder export instead?
The dedicated importer expects a standard library snapshot. A loose file upload can add books, but it does not provide the same catalog context.
Can I rerun the same import?
Duplicate checks reduce repeated records, but review the summary. Do not rely on title alone to merge different editions.
